Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs."

The Report of the U.N. Brundtland Commission, Our Common Future, 1987

"If there are to be problems, may they come during my life-time so that I can resolve them and give my children the chance of a good life."

Kenyan proverb

"Then I say the Earth belongs to each generation during its course, fully and in its right no generation can contract debts greater than may be paid during the course of its existence"

Thomas Jefferson, September 6, 1789

18th SDEWES conference was held from 24 - 29 September 2023 in Dubrovnik, Croatia, and it brought together 646 scientists, researchers, and experts in the field of sustainable development from 58 countries and six continents, out of which 507 attended onsite and 137 online.

We have listened to 568 oral presentations and had the chance to see 56 poster presentations. There were 51 regular sessions onsite and 71 online with 13 special sessions plus four keynote plenary lectures and three panels given by some of the most distinguished experts in the field.

This year we continued with the tradition within the onsite conferencing, by organizing the Project Exchange Event which aroused a lot of interest. 28 projects were presented, and many were interested in hearing about them.

We hope you were as happy as we were as we again had the chance to meet, mingle and share new ideas in person.

All the photos, presentations, and videos of the most important events, as well as participants’ insight on the SDEWES 2023 are available on the conference website  https://www.dubrovnik2023.sdewes.org/media, but also at our SDEWES Talks www.sdewes.org/talks.php. Please feel free to share it with your colleagues and for more information and updates, look for #sdewes and follow us on social media, but also at our SDEWES Talks www.sdewes.org/talks.php.
